Sun teams in Pokémon Champions: Charizard Y, Torkoal and Chlorophyll

Sun doubles the power of Fire moves, halves Water damage and lets Solar Beam fire instantly. In Champions it comes in two very different shapes.

Fast sun: Mega Charizard Y

• Charizard sets sun when it Mega evolves, so the opponent cannot stop it with Fake Out.
• Venusaur doubles its speed with Chlorophyll and spreads Sleep Powder.
• Partners: Incineroar, Garchomp, Milotic, Sneasler, Whimsicott.
• Plan: Mega evolve turn one, Heat Wave, protect Charizard from Rock Slide.

Slow sun: Torkoal under Trick Room

• Torkoal sets sun with Drought and fires Eruption once Trick Room is up.
• Setters: Farigiraf, Hatterene, Indeedee-F.
• Partners: Armarouge, Ursaluna, Kingambit.

Kantonian Ninetales

• A faster Drought setter that fits Tailwind teams: Heat Wave, Will-O-Wisp, Encore.

How to beat sun

• Rain and sand setters overwrite sun on entry.
• Rock Slide and Mega Aerodactyl remove Charizard Y before it does anything.
• Safety Goggles or Grass types ignore Sleep Powder.
• Wide Guard stops Heat Wave and Eruption for a turn.
